Pictures from the 2003 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend
The National Fallen Firefighter's Memorial is surrounded by smaller stone memorials. Each year is represented by a stone with a plaque on it bearing the names of all of the firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty that year. An eternal flame is located at the base of the Memorial.
These two dedication plaques are on either side of the "Walk of Honor" leading up to the Memorial.
The "Walk of Honor" consists of bricks enscribed with the names of Fallen Firefighters, Fire Departments or individuals wishing to honor and remember those Firefighters who have made the supreme sacrifice. Bricks may be purchased and personalized by visiting the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation website.
